HI I'M SARA

And I create courses to help radiation therapy physics finally make sense.

I'm a Certified Medical Dosimetrist and educator, and I created RTPhysics for radiation therapy students who are struggling with physics or just need it explained differently. RTPhysics is an online study resource built from 20 years of clinical and teaching experience — and one very personal memory of not fully understanding MU calculations when I graduated. If you've ever gotten the right answer and still not felt confident about it, you're exactly who this is for.

HOW IT ALL STARTED...

I graduated from my Medical Dosimetry Program not fully understanding MU calculations.

It wasn't because they didn't teach them, and it wasn't because I didn't study. It was because the teacher I had didn't fit my learning style, and I was left trying to fill in the blanks on my own. After asking the right people the right questions, I finally got the understanding I had been missing — and I built this resource for the student I once was. I hold a certificate in Medical Dosimetry from Loma Linda University, a Bachelor of Science in Physics with a minor in Mathematics, a Master of Science in Radiation Science, and a certificate in Online Education, and I still give occasional lectures to radiation therapy students and radiation oncology residents. Outside of physics, I enjoy sewing, am a newer artist still figuring it out, and the owner of a cat with a thing for water. My art business, Thread & Thicket, lives at threadandthicket.com if you'd like to follow along that journey too. We are all learning — and that's a beautiful thing.

I learned Adobe Illustrator to make art, and accidentally ended up with the design skills I needed to build RTPhysics.

I have been a quilter for 30 years and recently learned how to design my own fabric.

Salsa dancing is my favorite way to get out of my head and forget about everything else.

I have a cat who loves to play in water and chase the occasional bug around.

I graduated from the world-famous Loma Linda University, whose Medical Center is home of the world's first hospital-based proton facility.

I only started drawing a couple of years ago and am still very much figuring it out and having a lot of fun doing it.
